Services Spotch Consulting, Inc. provides research services to individuals and organizations. Our analysts will find and retrieve data from libraries, archives, cemeteries, public records repositories, museums, the Internet, and other relevant data resources. Each research project is custom-crafted to identify, locate, retrieve, and present the required data to the client in a timely and cost-effective way. The following are broad descriptions of the types of service that we provide to clients. Library and Archive Research   We research and retrieve (by photoduplication or manual abstract/extract) material from any primary or secondary source repository that is accessible to us. Specific topic research will be conducted in libraries and archives and relevant excerpts will be delivered, annotated, to the client. All excerpts include full bibliographic and source information suitable for citation. Our analysts will use the most accessible resources in order to minimize cost to the client. When possible, we will also inform the client about how to access the data sources, either at a local facility, or through a loan service. We do the travel, the legwork, the waiting in line, the searching through the stacks, the waiting for delivery, the reading, the copying, ... you simply specify the project and receive the results.     Newspaper/Periodical Research   Some data can only be found in copies of newspapers, magazines, or other periodicals. In some cases, historical can be researched through online services. In many cases, either a microform copy, or the actual periodical media must be consulted. In all cases, unindexed periodicals require detailled review to find an article of interest. Our analysts will search through appropriate periodicals in order to find references to a specific event, person, or article ... spanning whatever date range deemed appropriate to the research project. Whenever possible, published abstracts will be used to fine-tune a search before exhaustively scanning the actual periodical. We find the periodical, flip through the pages reading to find what you want, the copying, ... you simply specify the project and receive the results.     Internet Resource Search   The Internet has become one of the largest resources for research. Many databases are accessible on the Internet, either for free, or by subscription. In some cases, it is a very simple matter to search for, and find, the desired information online. In most cases, it is neccessary to search multiple search engines and databases. Each preliminary "hit" requires further inspection to determine whether it is useful to the area of inquiry. Our analysts will do the searching, and the sifting, to find the needles of useful information buried in the haystack of data. Our clients receive only the data that is relevent to the research project, delivered annotated, with appropriate citations, and with links to the referenced document. We query the search engines, wait for the network, read through all the irrelevant hits (and ignore the incessant ads), fine tune the search to separate the wheat from the chaff, and bring it all together into something easy for you to study ... you simply specify the project and receive the results.     Research Project Management   Some research projects require that you contact and communicate with repositories around the world. Some repositories will do the on-site research, for a fee. This can be less expensive than an actual trip to the repository, but increases the amount of management overhead necessary to ensure good results. Our analysts will coordinate all the communications, assess the feasibility of hiring remote researchers, obtain cost estimates and research plans, advance payment, supervise ongoing progress, analyze individual results in the context of the whole research project, and provide the client with the finished results.
