A Subject Near and Dear to my Heart - BEER

This web space is a chronicle of my own experiences with beer over the years. You may find it interesting or educational, or a total waste of electrons. Whatever. It is here for those of my cronies, cohorts, and drinking companions (known and unknown) who wish to accompany me on my quest for the Tao of Brew.

If you would to contact me with comments, complaints, congratulations, or questions, please E-mail me. If you really like the site, send me a Postcard (with a postage stamp on it). I'd say "Send me a bottle of beer from your part of the world ..." but that may be too much trouble ... :)

I will respond to all contacts ... but not necessarily immediately. There are many types of beer for me to taste, and I only have a few decades left in which to try them.

Wine and Beer

Every now and then, I have a glass of wine ... and then I can never remember whether it's wine on top of beer, or beer on top of wine, that can make you ill. In most cases, probably one of each won't kill you, but there is a German proverb that my father passed on to me:

For those who don't understand a word of German, it translates, almost literally, as: "Beer after Wine, leave that be. Wine after beer, I recommend to thee". So, the moral of the story is, don't drink wine if you'll be drinking beer later. Having a glass of wine on top of your beer seems to be OK. Of course, where does barleywine and mead fit into this formula?
