Abita Amber Beer App: Brownish orange
Aro: Kinda earthy, almost mildly skunky
Tas: Not very interesting; a hint of hops or other bittering flavor; fairly typical beer flavor
(Home 08Dec2001) [5-135]
Abita Fleur-de-Lis Restoration Ale App: Light yellow to amber; thick but short-lived head;
Aro: A mix of hops and ale yeast smells;
Tas: Decent hops / malt balance; The hops flavor comes through without harsh bitterness; It's a bit "chewy" in the mouthfeel; Definitely a good quaffing beer ... you get the malty ale flavors washing your palate, then just a bit of lingering hops in the finish to dry your palate, and make you want another sip;
(Home 30Mar2006)

AleSmith Brewing Speedway Stout App: Black
Aro: Roasty, a bit iike wine

Note: "A full-bodied Imperial Stout with guts and glory from a hefty addition of coffee." 12% ABV; It's a meal in a glass ... made with Ryan Brothers Coffee
(Brick Beers of Southern California Tasting 04Sep2002 - 12) [7-55]
AleSmith Brewing X App: Yellow, clear, bubbly
Aro: Mildly "flattened" aroma
Tas: Smooth, soft, a bit of the "flattened" taste

Aro: Spicy; Nutmeg, cloves, maybe allspice
Tas: Beyond description; it is bitter and spicy; Like previous years, it has a very strong flavor that will shock you and put you off if you are expecting something that tastes like "beer." Anheuser-Busch Budweiser App: Very light color, almost colorless, clear
Tas: "High water content," a tiny hint of sweetness, followed by a tiny hint of bitterness, but fairly devoid of flavor. It is popular (50%+ of the U.S. beer market) perhaps because you can drink a large amount of this fluid without any flavors interfering with your attention to swallowing it, therefore consuming more cheap alcohol.

Bluegrass Brewing Company
Bearded Pat's Barleywine
App: Dark red, clear;
Aro: Sweet, malty, spicy hops aroma;
Tas: Blows up in your face hops; a sweet spicy taste; barely a hint of the alcohol; This beer really rocks fresh, and will probably be double-rocking when it is aged; Some of the less hop-freaky (they are hopsheads) people at the table found it unbalanced
Note: 10%+ ABV; Brewed in July 2001; Made from the first runnings from a full mash tun, then added 250 pounds of malt extract to get the gravity up; Centennial, Columbus, Cascade, and a handful of whatever other leftover hops were found in the brewery (88 pounds). This started out with the name "Old Burley," named after one of the BBC bartenders; This beer could also be nicknamed "GDBW = God Damned Barleywine."

Dixie Blackened Voodoo Lager App: Dark red, almost black
Aro: Mildly rubbery, "black"
Tas: Dusty, metallic, fairly awful; I've had another taste of this, and it tasted like an "OK" beer with Cajun blackened seasoning; a novelty but not an everyday choice for me; Most people will not enjoy this for more than the novelty value
(History of Beers in the U.S. 11Feb2002 - 7) [6-67]

Bravo, Sam! Bravo!

Bottle Conditioned App: Cloudy; orange

DogFish Head Raison d'Extra App: Black
Aro: Oh man, this smells like a brandy, or Cherry Heering
Tas: This was incredible smooth, given the ABV, and the fact that it has not aged much; It has a nice cherry taste to it, and was much too easy-drinking for a beer this potent!
