Online Philatelic Chats

Online chat rooms and bulletin boards are a good way to meet other philatelists. Simply by lurking, you can learn a great deal. As you start to converse with other collectors in real-time, or near-real-time, you'll develop friendships and potential trading partners from around the world. Some of the chat rooms listed below are available to anyone with a web browser. Others require that you be a member of a particular online service, or download special software. They are ordered in descending order of how often I frequent a particular place.

stampoffers.com Stamps Chat Guestbook-style chat Created and maintained by James Munch. Currently, this is the most likely place to find me chatting about philately, although I can be found elsewhere. It is a fairly new site although it has attracted a core cadre of collectors. There is also a new philatelic auction site from which the chat room gets it's name: stampoffers.com.

Stamp Head Forums BBS-style. Multiple topics including auctions Also built around a philatelic auction site: Stamp Head Auctions.

Frajola's Board for Philatelists Guestbook-style chat. A prolific board. Serious and advanced philatelic discussions.

StampChat BBS-style with more advanced philatelic discussions.

eBay Stamps Board Guestbook-style chat. A very prolific board of buyers and sellers of stamps at eBay. It is against the board policy to post about buying/selling/trading stamps.

America Online Stamp Professionals Forum A forum for stamp collectors, including a set of message boards and an online chat. You must have an AOL account in order to use most of the resources there. The location has bounced around a bit in the past few years, but try keywords: Stamps, and StampPro and see what you find. Once you've participated, you may receive IM invitations from members to join active forums.

United Stamps Chat Room and Bulletin Board This new site has both a BBS and a Chat Room.
